Nutella Cake Pops for World Nutella Day

World Nutella day was started by  Sara from Ms. Adventures in Italy and Michellee From Bleeding Espresso.  When I first came across this event in Ya Salam Cooking,( who is hosting this event)  I was sure that I'm not going to miss this event.

Actually I was not a big fan of  nutella until I tasted my first big scoop of Nutella after coming to Germany.  Now if anybody asks me how would you like to have your Nutella with bread, crepes, cakes, biscuits etc... I would say no because I like my Nutella just by itself.  I just take a few scoops of nutella in bowl and sit back indulge  into it, but one thing I always do this only when my kids are sleeping, or I have to share with them : )
Anyway today for the World Nutella day, I'm not going to eat the Nutella on it's own, since I made some little Cake pops with Nutella. I'm not going to say that it looks cute, I'll leave it to you to decide that.
I think I have blabbered enough, since I have a long recipe to type, we'll go straight to the recipe now.

Ingredients:
For the Cake:
Plain flour- 100 g
Butter- 75 g
Egg- 1
Brown Sugar- 75 g
Nutella- 1 generous tabelspoon+ 2 tbsp extra
Baking powder- 1 tsp
Bicarbonate of soda- 1/4 tsp
For the frosting:
White Chocolate- 100 g
Plain Chocolate- 100 g
Royal Icing( optional)- refer to the recipe here
Few edible beads to decorate
Few toothpicks

Method:
Prepare the cake:

Cream the butter and sugar until it looks soft and fluffy.  Add the egg and beat well .  Then sift the flour, baking powder and bicarbonate of soda. Beat it again until it looks like a smooth batter.  Add 1 tbsp of nutella to it and mix well.  If the batter looks too thick add 1 tbsp of milk to loosen it.
Preheat the oven to 180 degree Celsius.  Grease and line a 8 cm round cake tin.  Pour  the batter into the prepared pan and bake it in the preheated oven for 20 minutes or until a skewer inserted comes out clean.
Prepare the pops:

1. Crumble the cake in a bowl
2. Add  2 tbsp of nutella to the bowl and mix well with a spatula
3. Mould it into a ball, flatten slightly and cut it into desired shapes using a cookie cutter.
4. Get the shapes out of the cutter.
5. Dip a toothpick inside the nutella and then insert it into the cakes shapes.

6. Arrange it in a plate, cover with a clingfilm and refrigerate for 30 minutes until it firms up.
7. Melt the chocolate in a bowl sitting on top of simmering water.
8. Take the pops out of the refrigerator, and dip it in the melted chocolate and allow it to set.

Don't worry if the toothpicks come out when you are dipping inside the melted chocolate, you can insert it it later.
You can leave it just with chocolate melt or to make it more fancy you can use some royal icing like I have done. Roll the icing between two sheets of baking paper.  Cut out the desired shapes using a cookie cutter and place it on top of the pops. Decorate more with some edible beads on top.  Have fun decorating your pops in different shapes and colour.

This recipe is my contribution to World Nutella Day
